OncoR Screening Test:
OncoR Screening test is a gene-expression test that detects oral cancer in its early stages when it can be fully cured. It is a saliva-based test which makes it very convenient for screening for the disease. The genes were identified using screening studies of patient tumor. The test comprises of monitoring the expression of six genes in disseminated cells in the saliva that are positively and negatively correlated with the incidence of cancer. The test would be suitable for distinguishing oral cancer from other non-malignant lesions of the oral cavity and likely could be used as a screening tool for early detection of oral cancer in population at high risk for developing oral cancer. The test will be validated in Indian patients once its refinement is completed. India has the highest incidence of oral cancer in the world.
